Ducale Murano

Among the most successful revivals in the Montegrappa catalogue is the Ducale classically-styled pen. First appearing in the 1930s, the Ducale honours the famed Doge’s Palace in Piazza San Marco. Each embodies Venetian culture and tradition.

Incorporated into a pen that exudes sophistication and dignity, qualities that are overwhelmingly Venetian have again inspired Montegrappa to honour a unique part of the city. Ducale Murano pays homage to the legendary glass-making region of Venice, unparalleled in the world for creating works of art in glass.

Two pens herald the arrival of the new Ducale Murano, both redolent of the colours and patterns devised by the craftsmen and women working in glass. The first is Ducale Murano – Tramonto Veneziano (Venetian sunset), with its striking, pearlised swirls of smoky grey and orange hues. Its companion in honouring Murano is Ducale Murano – Astratto (Abstract). Its blue, red and caramel shades of pearlised resin are mixed in together to creating abstract colour swishes, as found in Murano glass.

Consisting of a rollerball, a ballpoint and a fountain pen, the Ducale Murano pens are manufactured from resin and trimmed with stainless steel. The fountain pens are available with fine, medium or broad nibs, decorated with the Montegrappa filigree motif. As with all Montegrappa pens, the clip terminates in the signature ball to facilitate easy removal from or insertion into one’s pocket.
